ASET - Ameenia Sultania Educational Trust - is an Islamic educational and community institution serving children, adults and families in Birmingham.

Since 2010, ASET has worked to nurture faith, provide high-quality Qur’an and Islamic education, and create a welcoming environment in which the whole community can learn, worship and grow.

Faith

Education

Bringing people together through education, worship, activities and community programmes.

Qur’an and Islamic learning for children, young people and adults.

Family

Community

Supporting generations of families in their Islamic learning and development.

More Than a Building

ASET is a place of worship, learning and community life. Every week, children, adults and families come together to learn, grow and strengthen their connection with Islam.

A group of young boys wearing white traditional Islamic clothing and caps are seated in a circle on the floor, engaged in a learning activity, with an adult male instructor leading the session. The environment appears to be a classroom or prayer space with books, notebooks, and green trays in front of each boy.

Qur’an & Islamic Education

Helping children build strong foundations in Qur’an, Tajwīd and Islamic Studies.

Student Life

Projects, activities, achievements and experiences that make Islamic learning meaningful and enjoyable.

Community Programmes

Lectures, gatherings and opportunities for the wider community to learn and connect.

Adult Learning

Providing opportunities for adults to develop their Qur’an recitation, Islamic knowledge and spiritual growth.

Learning, Growing & Belonging.

Islamic education is about more than completing a textbook. At ASET, we want our students to enjoy learning, develop strong Islamic character and grow up feeling that the Masjid is a meaningful part of their lives.

From classroom learning and creative projects to sports, trips and special activities, we aim to give students experiences that strengthen both their knowledge and their connection with the Masjid.

Why We Are Rebuilding

For many years, our Masjid has been a place of worship, Qur’an education and community life. As ASET has grown, so too have the needs of our students, families and wider community.

The reconstruction will create a larger, more suitable and lasting home for the work already taking place — and provide the space needed for it to grow.

The new Masjid will help us provide improved prayer facilities, dedicated educational spaces, better facilities for children and adults, and greater capacity for community programmes.

Serving the Community Since 2010

From a newly acquired building to a thriving centre of worship, education and community life, ASET’s journey has been shaped by the support of the community and a commitment to serving future generations.

2010

The Journey Begins

ASET received the keys to its first building, supported by interest-free loans from members of the community and the commitment of those who believed in its vision.

2011–2012

Education and Worship Take Root

The ASET evening Madrassah opened in June 2011, teaching Qur’an, Qāʿidah, Islamic Studies and Ḥifẓ. In August 2012, the Masjid officially opened its doors.

2018

ASET Becomes Debt-Free

Through years of fundraising and community support, all remaining loans were repaid, leaving ASET completely debt-free.

2023

Planning for the Future

After years of planning and development, permission was granted for the complete reconstruction of the Masjid and educational facility.

2025

Reconstruction Begins

In June 2025, the former building was demolished and construction of the new four-floor Masjid and educational facility began — while prayers and classes continued from alternative locations.

2026

Building the Next Chapter

The structure now stands, major groundwork and concrete works are complete, and the project has moved into its first-fix and internal construction stages.
